Preview: Panthers at Eagles 11/26

It’s Monday Night Football, prime time games, great competition, and national spotlight on two elite teams as they battle it out on the gridiron…Or at least that’s what it used to mean. Tonight’s game is between two of the most disappointing teams in the NFL.

The era of Cam Newton has hit a snag as his sophomore slump has combined with 2-8 record. Cam has turned his play around lately, in the month of November he has thrown for 4 TDs and only 2 interceptions, ran for another touchdown and has a quarterback rating of 88. However, his improvement in play hasn’t helped turn the Panthers ship around as they look to once again finish in the bottom ten of the league for the third year in a row.

On the other sideline the Eagles are facing a similar situation. Their “dynasty” has been nothing but disappointment. Mike Vick has been horrible throwing 9 interceptions and fumbling 10 times. To make matters worse, the defense still looks weak even after the coaching change. Finally, to add insult to injury (actually it’s injury to insult) both Vick and McCoy are injured for tonight’s game.

There is a lot of similarities between these two teams. Both of them have underperformed and continue to frustrate their fan base. Both teams appear to have lame duck coaches who will be gone when the season is over. Also, during the season, both Carolina and Philadelphia have fired two major people in the organizations. The Eagles fired defensive coordinator Juan Castillo and the Panthers let go of long time GM, Marty Hurney. One final similarity is that both teams will have top 10 picks in next years draft. Tonight, due to injuries, the Panthers should win. If Cam can continue to play well then Carolina should easily take this one and get their 3rd win of the season.

Final Score: 27-14 Panthers
